Threads is my final year project about intergenerational relationships and connections. It explores the concept of female bonds on a familial, historical, and biological level, with the threads that tie us all together, through the medium of graphic design. I wanted to combine my personal interest of textiles with communication design, for an alternative format. I created a typographic wearable garment, like a piece of traditional wear that allows me to carry the story of my ancestors, specifically my grandmothers, as working women. I used a combination of digital embroidery, heatpress, hand embroidery, and free hand sewing to create this garment.
